Purpose
The Cultural Wellness program serves as a vital liaison between Strong Family Health Center and the diverse community we serve. The purpose of this program is to focus on promoting cultural awareness, foster trust, and improve health equity by supporting culturally appropriate outreach, communication, and care. This program plays a key role in helping Native American clients navigate health services, while providing cultural insight to staff and administration to improve service delivery.
Available Services
- Cultural liaison between clients, families, staff and providers
- Provide interpretation and advocacy services between providers and other community partners
- Assist in the development and delivery of community outreach (meetings, presentations, trainings) that are culturally relevant
- Assist with client and youth advocacy
- Collaborate with staff to enhance cultural competence
- Identify emergency cultural needs and help develop strategies to address them
- Attend meetings, community events, health fairs and cultural activities and celebrations
- Lead and direct the SFHC Youth Board
- Connect with clients regarding any traditional health needs or resources
